Polk CDC seeking volunteers!

volunteers

Do you have a thorough understanding of the basics of personal finance? How about detailed, hands-on knowledge of the homebuying process? Then Polk CDC is looking for you!

Polk CDC has been one of MERIT's key partners since our founding. They offer a wide range of services in Polk County including administering an IDA matched savings program, providing financial and home ownership education classes, and offering low-interest housing rehabilitation loans.

The Polk Regional Housing Center is seeking realtors, bank employees, mortgage and title professionals, and other knowledgeable community members to help present its Financial Fitness and ABC's of Homebuying classes-both in English and in Spanish. Financial Fitness courses are four, 2.5 hour classes over four weeks covering the basics of budgeting, credit, and financial institutions; the ABCs of Homebuying is one, 8 hour class covering the basics of mortgages, house shopping, and closing. While they have proven curricula for these courses, it is the experience and commitment of financial professionals and community leaders like you that keep these classes fresh and up-to-date.

While these classes cannot be used to directly promote your business, they can help you with CRA requirements and with meeting potential clients. Polk CDC is always looking for more volunteers, so if you are interested, please contact Nick Dollar or Celina Davila at the Polk Regional Housing Resource Center, by phone at 503-831-3173 or by email at ndollar@polkcdc.org and at cdavila@polkcdc.org.
